thanks for all the input. I'm gonna check on another set but wont be able to bring in the old one as it is destroyed...it sounds like a few people have shaved/cut them down a little
Evans - it looks like you dont have that rear spacer. do you remember if it came with one?
What was happening with mine ( 73 F250 2wd) was the ends of the bushings weren't seating in the brackets. I put the front in, the put the nut and the washers on the rear and tightened. The front bushing then slipped into the bracket and was able to get the rear bushing on enough to get the nut on then was able to compress the rear one in.
what is the total length that your bushings are compressed once installed? in other words, once the nut was fully tight was the total bushing assmebly length reduced by more than .5 inches?
I don't know didn't measure it. But the part of the bushing that is reduced fits into the bracket, so you will get the thickness of the bracket coming out of the rear. When you put the rear bushing on, you will have enough thread showing to start compressing the whole bushing.
Guys, thanks for the input. I went to the auto parts store to compare a set of moog bushings to the duralast (these were in fact the correct replacements) and the moogs were at least 3/16 shorter overall so I got them. They went in relatively easy with some time aligning the radius arm nice and straight. They showed at least 2-3 threads at the nut without the come along. Thanks again.
