Discrete sub location?

First off, thanks guys. Your pictures and description was exactly what I was after! The problem in lookin at kow is do I build a box for a good cheap sub or do I just do a plate and go with free air? I suppose if I do a good rubber liner and some Dynamat or equivalent inside of the driver side barn door and add a cutout for the hinge area it'll basically be a ported box.

Here's what my installer did...I have a grill for the subwoofer and the whole assembly will fit under the factory spare tire cover, thus making it invisible. The speaker is a JL Audio 13w6v2 and it rocks!
