I have a lead on a set of leafs from a F350 but that guy is taking forever to get them off his truck so i'm looking for an option B (might be temporary fix or permanent depending on how it turns out)
from what i can see my options are shackes (either 1" or 2" lift) or add-a-leafs
I drive primarily on dirt, gravel and snowy roads, some washboard stuff and of course pavement. However my main concern is with the handling on the dirt roads (they're "county maintained" but washboard and ruts are fairly common).
I'm not at all concerned with increasing the load capacity of the truck as i never town anything heavy, but i am concerned with getting more suspension travel (down to 1") since i bottom out daily on the dirt driveway around my shop.
So which is better for my situation? Keep the springs soft or firm them up?
Since I put 1 1/2" shackles in I fear no bump or dip. Many people overlook shackles for some reason. I could just put a finger between the bumper and the spring before, now the truck is 39" all around at the wells. Heavy springs are worse on washboards, they need to roll with the punches. Measure your wells before buying, mine sits level now.
Well i think I want to install rear add-a-leafs anyway (if i don't go full F350 suspension) so i'm leaning towards the 2" shackles. i am doing bushwacker cutout flares and 37" HMMWV tires (12.5) with spacers.
I don't think i need the shackles for tire clearance but i do want more space for bumps as i'm all over the bumpstops now and i have about an inch or so of space but that's not enough for these roads.
