Well I am getting back to work on the highboy soon. I am converting the rear suspension to the 78-now style rear leaf springs. And I want to get rid of the big 4 inch blocks, so I want to either Build my own spring packs OR buy F550 packs. Now I would much rather make my own packs, using 2 sets of springs. One is F250 spring from my PSD thats well giving the ghost up for the Highboy, and a set of 2wd F350 springs (That I can get a hold of) Would comping the two to make a really thick pack also increase my load capacity? Cause I want as stiff of suspension I can, since he trucks going to be built for Sled Pulling. Now yes I know I will be driving it a bunch when its not on pull duty, but IDC about how rough suspension is. I love the ride of a log truck.. So would I be able to do my plan and have good success or not? Also how good are 'Add a Leafs'? Cause I may throw some of those in my spring pack too... Again I dont want to use blocks, but want to keep the famous High Boy height.
add a leafs are fine they will make the ride really stiff you will feel every bump running add a leafs (which after rereading i see you like) i would just use the multiple add-a-leafs then it will keep the pack from being as thick but get the height and stiffness you are looking for
i would also suggest using a front add a leaf made for a diesel it will add more height than one for the rear they will be longer then use a short add a leaf made for the rear you should get several inches out of that set up.

The add a leaf for the front of my truck didn't give it more lift ,it helped to carry the plow , I had to have the springs re curved too ,, gave me 2 more inches of lift with new springs ...
Well I need to gain ATLEAST 4 inches of height in the *** end so a thick spring pack is somewhat needed. Also how much height you get when adding hte front add a leaf? Cause I need to gain some height up front cause the engine cradle would hit the front axle as it sits now. Since I need to add height to the front I will need to add height to the back also. So I can see now I will at least need to run a 35 so my truck doesnt look like its running around on to small a tire lol
the front add a leaf will ad 1.5" on the front, what it adds on the rear i am not sure i am going to find out when i do it to mine though but the short rear add a leaf will add 2 inches i would assume that the front will add at least 3" to the rear you are probably looking at a solid 5 inches to the rear.
I see I see well I wonder if the add a leafs would help a highboys springs much or not lol.
Call a spring shop , they will know what you need & what will work .. Thats what I did rather than rely on the claims of an internet seller .. I have been through this with three different trucks , starting with my 76 High boy ..
