transfercase question

transfercase question
has anybody tried put a older style transfer case in a newer ford like the pull up on the shifter for 4x4 in place of the switch on the dash board I want was thinking about take the one out of my 99 and putting in the older one I don't like not feeling it going into 4x4 or having to rock my truck to get it to go in low
