Just bought the truck i push the clutch in , put in neutral, foot on brake turn to four low nothing happens??? I took out the switch tested it seems ok i have 6 1/2 volts at the switch. tried tapping on servo at the transfer case and cycling the switch still nothing. Am i missing something or ???? anyone know what kinda voltage i should have at the switch or what to check?? no book but i ohmed all fuses both blocks full all were good is there a module for this? Is the servo maybe bad?? I am a motorcycle mechanic with a beer budget would like to know if there is a common thing to look for. lol THANKS

What type of hubs do you have? Manual or auto? If auto, do they have the "Lock" setting? If so, try manually locking your hubs to see if your 4x4 will engage.
Is your shifter a manual one or electronic?
Do you have 4H working?
... er, I guess I should point out that I am not am a mechanic (nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night), but those with enough experience and know-how to help you out will probably need the above info so .......
Manual Hubs Electronic Switch On Dash Don't Care About Hubs Working Want The Transfer Case To Shift No 4 High Or Low The Motor At The Transfer Case Does Nothing When The Dash Switch Is Turned To 4x4 High Or Low
Well, if you don't have the 100% for sure 4x4 shift lever on the floor, you probably have a vacuum leak as the ESOF is vacuum operated. Could be at the fitting under the dash, the hose by the wheel, or even the oring in the axles assembly. Since you have a switch and not a floor shifter, that is my guess.
EDIT: whoops, I just looked again and see that your concern is in the xfer case. How do you know it is not working?

Yea I Wish It Was Linkage But Lucky Me I Get So Called "more User Friendly Socker Mom Edition" Does A Vacuum Leak Effect The Electric Motor For The Transfer Case?? I Have Had Auto Hub Problems With My F-150 But It Still Would Go To Low Range No Light On The Dash No Nothing Like I Don't Even Hit The Switch Sure Seems Electical To Me. Don't See How Vacuum Will Effect The Transfer Case??
Nope the vacuum won't affect the transfer case from not going into 4x4 hi or low. I dont know where the clutch has to be on a manual for it to engage. Sounds like you have tried multiple scenerios. I would think just pushing the clutch in should get you 4x4 Hi, then maybe N and cluctch out for low, just guesing. Does the light on the dash ligh up? Have you checked the fuses for the electronic shift?
ESOF has 1 or 2 relays. #40 and maybe #41, according to my manual. Under the hood near the power dist. box. May want to check and see if they are working.
Check the Powertrain Control Module Relay (the relay closest to the firewall and the driver's side fender in the Power Distribution Box) and replace it. If that doesn't work, then check maxi-fuse position 27 (Transfer Case Shift Relay Power). If neither of those work, I would check the transfer case shift motor to see if you have a broken gear. Take the shift motor off, get a couple jumpers on a 6 volt flashlight battery and wire it up and see if the gears turn. If they turn, then it's somewhere between the shift motor and the relays. I just fixed mine with the identical problem.
