So i finally got it done. I added 2 LED panels along with hardwiring new LED’s into the sockets (168 bulbs) the LED Panels are angled to the rear so it gives extra light to the rear and the front compartments. I used license plate sockets as I didn’t want to go to crazy bright. Especially since i was adding the LED panels. Total cost was about $60. $20 for the bulbs $20 for the LED panels $10 for the sockets $10 for the quick disconnect. Im really happy to have light in the front compartments my GF has been complaining about how dark it is since i broke the ribbon about a month ago. Overall pretty easy upgrade and since I’m new to this DIY stuff I’m excited to do more upgrades. I can post pics if anyone is interested

 

I did this mod last night, and holy hell why didn't I know about this sooner... thank god for this forum. I bought my truck with non-working map lights, and boy its dark in the truck at night with dark tint and little ambient light, this will be a game changer.

So now, people have two places to find the photos I took long ago (September of 2013 - 10 years ago!!!). Mine are still working awesome. 152k on the Odo. As my Excursion doesn't get driven too often.
