I am doing that right now. I was going to get the bulbs but decided since I wiring everything new to go with something a little different than the conversion bulbs.
Last post on this page is the pictures of what I did.
If you get the replacement style LED bulbs it will plug in just like the old bulb, but you will most likely have problems with the dimmer switch in your truck. You would need a special switch to dim them wired into the circuit.
This is one reason I swapped to colored LED's in my cluster build. The green I have will still be bright, but it won't be as bad as a bright white light shining right at you while going down the road.
I like your dome light panel I want some serious light out of the dome light. that looks like the ticket.
I did some more research and I guess technically you need an led dimmer but some say they still dim with the switch just a little I bought some led bulbs we will see how it works.
All I can say is it's dark out so I gave the LED dash lights and LED dome light a try. IT'S BRIGHT. Very bright. These pictures were taken at dark with out a flash.
All did to "mod" the original dome light housing for it to fit was take the guts out of the original bulb holder. Then I took a pair of pliers to turn the holder where the slits in the side was side to side in the dome housing. Then I put the lower part of the LED panel into the light housing. It held it still. If you were to drill the bottom out and take the whole bulb holder out you could fit a larger panel in there.
The way I did it you could always put the regular guts back into it later with out damaging it.
This panel comes with three different plug in ends, but all of them are wrong. So I just cut the end of the wires off of one of the adapters and wired it in direct.
This is who I got mine from, don't remember how long it took to come in but it's under 4 bucks shipped.

Later on I was planning on some lights under the dash pointed down, I don't think I am going to need them now.
I had no reflective material left in my housing is why I wanted them all pointing forward and didn't use a bulb style LED like I did in my taillights. They make some round LED 12v Panels but they are a lot smaller and only have 9 LED's on them. The one I used has 24 LED's in it.
Curious to see how it comes out! My gauge lights are pretty dim. (it matches my IQ)
They are autometer gauges and I am using red inserts for the dash, but they are pretty dull, so I would think the LED's would be much better. Only thing is, LED's are very bright, very sharp light. That might get annoying after a while?
I wired up my dome light setup yesterday with the door switches its all complete except for the light and the bezel. the housing and lens are on backorder at mid fifty. Mine is the rectangular one so it probably won't fit without trimming or something.
