I picked up a tach from my buddy for 20 bucks, it's made by Autogage.
I'm a dummy when it comes to anything electrical. I have found out that the black wire is the ground, the red wire is the power, the green wire goes to the ignition box or coil, and the white wire is for the dimmer. Now I have heard good and bad things about going off the fuse box for the power. If I don't go that route, what is another way? Spell it out for me. How did you do yours?
Alright now, this is where it gets confusing. Which one?
NEGATIVE lead. This is the switching signal from the ignition module or points. Some switching does appear on the positive lead in RUN because of the up/down voltage drop across the ballast while the ignition module pulls periodic current through the primary winding of the coil, but it's not as large of a peak-to-peak amplitude and won't be enough for most cases.
