So my 1946 1/2 ton has IFS. The rear has been C notched and the axle mounted on top of the springs. Shock absorbers are mounted in the rear as well. However, the rear is a real kidney pounder. It bounces around so much it can be hard to control the truck.
I have already decided to change out the current rear end ( a positraction from an El Camino) and the 350 turbo transmission. To use this as a Daily driver I really need to change those gear ratios. I already have an R7 tranny ready to go. Here is my thought that may or may not be crazy.
I would like to transplant the entire rear end, leaf springs and shocks from a newer truck. I have seen a lot of conversation about using S10 frames and Ranger frames. Does anyone see enormous problems with this kind of swap out ?
