IThanks.
I was thinking of doing the dump and refill with an external filter
change. The dump again in 10K. That will take a few cycles to get
it all cleared. It's bright and clean now and I want to keep it that way.
Also someone posted something about using air to blow out the cooler.
Where do you put the air to it?
IThanks.

I did the external too, mainly because following the advice here I just hit it with a rattle gun w/o trying anything else and the canister came right off. I bought one of those reverse stamped ones off ebay and put some silicone grease on when I put it back together. I have one more external filter I'll use and then I'm leaving that canister empty. The new '08+ filter is just so THAT and more.
I plan on 20K dump and fills and no one will convince me that a hot flush is worth it unless you have a trans that has been abused (which is a lot relative to a TS trans), or has not had maintenance (old fluid). Otherwise its a waste of time and money...
blowing the lines out?? why, you are doing dump and fills... There is always going to be a mix unless it's a clean build trans. LV and SP play fine together, based on other threads I've read on multi-use fluids (and then why did the trans blow), it isn't even close to the few bux you save on the fluid to go with anything else...
IThanks.

Here ya go Sean, check out the second link in blades 1st post on how to get more than 8 quarts of fluid out.
You need to double check with the 6.0 gurus though to be sure.
This question really shouldn't be posted here, since this is a drivetrain specific question, and it belongs in the 6.0L PSD forum.
Moving this over to the 6.0L forum so the guys in the know can help you out.

When the Torqshift came into usage, did it not get installed in all automatic transmission equipped Super Duties regardless of powerplant? Or did the gasoline equipped trucks receive a different automatic? I realize the 7.3 and the 6.0 used different transmissions, but I thought when the Torqshift debuted it was installed behind the gasoline engines too. If so, burying this thread in the 6.0 forum will have it go unviewed by 5.4 and V10 owners with the same question.

The gas motors got the same trans as the 7.3s....not the torqshift

It did not.

The OP posted this in the Excursion forum. The OP has a 6.0L PSD engine. No Excursion except the 6.0L came with a 5R110 TorqShift transmission, so "burying" it here in the appropriate forum has zero affect on any 5.4L/6.8L powered Excursion owners.

My apologies, I thought it originated in the Super Duty forum. I've never really thought of this as a powertrain forum but rather an engine forum although I am aware that things do get mixed frequently with chassis discussions in here. I meant no offense, just thought it best to keep it most visible to all users of this transmission since it was not dedicated to the 6.0 engine.
When did the gas engine SuperDuty trucks start getting them?

If I recall correctly, I believe the gas motors were mated to the Torqshift as well as being upgraded to 3-valve heads for the 2005 model year as part of that years broader update of the Super Duty platform.

Hmmm, it's the opposite for me.
Over in the 7.3L PSD forum, we converse, problem solve, diagnose, and offer mod advise on the 4R100 trans all the time. So I would think the same happens here for the 5R110.
