Was on my way to North Carolina and was in the mountians and all of a sudden i kicked it into passing gear pulling a steep grade and it started making a air blowing sound and had some loss of power,Seems fine at normal driving conditions, found a loose clamp on the Y pipe to the turbo and it seems a little better but it still has a flat spot when you kick into passing gear.
I rebuilt the turbo a couple years ago and it has been great, The turbo spools up just fine and seems normal until the issue in passing gear,I can hear the turbo at the time of power loss,I was thinking maybe the Silicone inter cooler tube hoses???? Anybody had this issue? I there a way to test intercooler tube for leaks? Or maybe something else totally different?
The air blowing sound, did it sound kind of like a jet engine? If it did, it was just your fan clutch kicking in which would be normal going up a steep hill under a lot of power. If that is the case, you don't need to do anything.
