I happened to look at my join date and noticed this month is my 10 year anniversary of joining FTE. I think I will have a cold one in celebration...join me if you like.
Here is to all the past, present and future brothers from whom I have learned so much. Best forum ever!
Thanks Donn.
I have known my truck since new and drove it for quite a while before I became the owner. My company wanted to get me one of those new fancy 6.0 liter models and I really didn't know anything about diesels at the time so I was on board with that decision. Who wouldn't want a brand new truck?
By a wild stroke of luck I happened to be in New Mexico visiting my uncle who is a Ford tech and he advised me to do whatever I had to do to keep my 7.3 and stay away from the 6.0 until proven. My only choice was to purchase the truck for myself and keep it as my daily driver.....I think I chose wisely.
Truth be told, everything I have learned about these trucks has been here on FTE. Lots of great members here who share their knowledge without letting their egos get involved. I really was clueless in the beginning. I still laugh at myself when I think about the time my Water In Fuel light came on. I opened up my owners manual and it said to flip the yellow lever to drain the water....boy was I surprised when more than water came out of that tube.
I joined the forum a few months after I purchased the truck so I can learn as much as possible to keep it as long as I could. So far so good...
Congrats on the 10 yr mark. No beer this morning but I raise my cup o joe to ya. And thanks for giving back as well. You have shared some good stuff here yourself.
How long after you bought your Ford did you sign up? Just after the warranty expired?
Congrats, Greg on the milestone in your FTE life.
I joined FTE a year after purchasing my pre owned truck and started accumulating ideas for future mods until the warranty expired. A lot has happened since that time. Time flies when you having fun.
Been so busy I didn't realize my 10 years on FTE was two days ago on 9/4
I've acquired so much knowledge here on FTE it's not even funny...I went from being scared to change my own oil to now being able to tear a 7.3 or 6.0 apart and put it back together in my sleep.
Your post prompted me to go back and look when I joined here. It was before I got my SuperDuty, back when I was driving my '89 F-250.
For years I had already been using the YahooGroup (and majordomo before that) for the '61-'79 trucks that Ken Payne had set up, and had resisted migrating to the web-based FTE when it became available. My how things change!
I originally joined FTE as "SpringerDad" in January of 2002. I used that, as it was my initial screen name at Yahoo (SpringerPop was already taken there). I re-registered in 2004 with my regular "handle", as I didn't know at the time that a username could be changed.
The years go by pretty quickly at this end of life!
Congrats Greg, you and the rest of the guys here have taught me loads. I have had my truck since new, and have learned more from you guys in the past 3yrs than I have since my first 95 psd. I won't have a beer cause it gives me a headache, but a rum will do.
Happy Belated 10th Anniversary Marv....it says 2004 on your details but we all know you've been with us since before then.
Have you looked at Mark Kovalsky's join date? 1999....that is the oldest one that I've seen yet!
Happy 10th to Roland (last month) and TD (this month).
David and Stewart, you guys are coming up soon....
Even after all this time...driving my truck never gets old. There still are days where I turn off the radio and just listen to the sweet smooth sound of the 7.3 motoring down the highway. Music to my hears.
Keep your truck Neal....there never will be another one like it.
