Hey guys some weird stuff happend this morning i let my truck worm up for about 15 minutes drove it about 12 miles stoped to pick up my brother in law shut it off after a few minutes of waiting for him sat for about 15 minutes started it up ,waited for traffic pulled out and about 40 yards down the road my O/D shifter light started flashing and i had no speedo or OD so i pulled up to a stop shut off the truck let it set for a sec started it back up and everything was fine and have no idea what the problem was and was hoping one of you could help......its a 2000 f-350 dually with almost 250 thousand miles on it tranny fluid looks nice n red ,doesnt smell funny, and cant seem to notice any slipping .....just hoping someone could help me out....thanks guys
It could be your speed sensor going out, but I think it may just be bad grounds/dirty battery cables. For some reason if the connections get dirty it seems to show in trans first.
I had that same issue about 2 months after I bought my F350 years ago. Intermittent but the same issue.
I replaced the sensor on the rear diff and found a loose wire to the plug. Fixed that and all has been well for 7 yrs now.
The ONLY way to know what's wrong is to get the codes read. When the OD light flashed one or more codes were stored. You need those codes. The places that read codes free can't read Ford transmission codes. Either a good independent shop or a Ford dealer can read them for you.
