I have had an on/off cold idle and drivability miss. Once the engine is to temp there is no issue.
On cold start up I have been watching FLP, FMP, IPR% and volts. I also have done a contribution test on the injectors with a SnapOn Solus scanner cold and hot. Both times the injectors showed the same results of no issues. The only thing it has shown consistently is P0403, P0404 and P0405(iirc) all pointing to an EGR issue.
The values are as follows:
Cold 10-12 hr cold soak
Vlt: 12.7
IPR: 22.5-28.5
FLP 10.5
FMP 47.5
10-15 mins of run time
Vlt: 13.7
IPR: 18.5
FLP: 13.5
FMP: 48.0
I pulled the EGR and cleaned it and used a shop vac to suck out as much carbon as I could. Still the same results. Cleared the codes and have been running it since with same results. I have not had the time to rescan it with my buddies snapon scanner.
Tonight when I started the truck after a 7 hour soak the readings were as follows:
Vlt: 10.9-14.4
IPR: 22.5-24.1
FLP: 13.5
FMP: 48.0
I only drove the truck 5 miles from the fair grounds home, so there was no real warm up. The volts hunted the whole time which is odd. It has not done that since I replaced the alternator 9 months ago.
Also the ICP# is anywhere from 840- 640 on the cold soak starts. The average warm idle ICP# is 645.
I am leaning towards the EGR being an issue, but am not convinced that is the only issue I have.
P0403 EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Open circuit, short to ground or voltage, EGR valve
P0404 EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Range/Performance EGR sensor or valve, EGR position circuit
P0405 EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit Low
Kinda looking like New EGR Valve Time or Deleate it and even if you deleate it you should replace the egr valve
these Trucks Need a Electronicaly Sound EGR Valve No Matter What
Yes it looks like a new EGR or delete. I am leaning towards a delete. I wish I had the $ to do the full bullet proofing. I found a guy that comes highly recommended and does the job for $3800-$4200 that includes parts, labor tuner and heads serviced.
Looks like the IPR DC is out of wack on mine. KO value looks right I think. the LI and HI look off! My LI is 18.5 to 25.0 and I have seen higher than 40 from time to time.
