diagnostic prob.
i have a 2005 sport track. i have a chug in my truck that has left me stranded on the road with my family once already and wouldn't start back up. when my friend pulled up 2 hours later he got into it and it started right up and he drove it home. we put a new used fuel pump in and it seemed to correct the problem for 2 days but yesterday she sputtered just enough to make me think it was back.
I have changed the spark plugs wires and coil pack. my engine light has been on for two months now and three code readers have been plugged into her and she wont turn on the readers. anyone have any GOOD thoughts. i've been told twice by two mechanics its the aldl in the computer thats fried cause of the position of the computer. is this the prob. do i need a new comp.
If this is the reality can a computer be taken from another Sport Trac not of the same year & be put in my Sport Trac?

It's pretty rare for Ford PCMs to fail, so I wouldn't start there. I'd start by figuring out what the problem is with the OBDII connector. When you say "wont turn on the readers" do you mean they don't receive power from the connector, or the readers are unable to access the stored codes? If power doesn't seem to be getting to them, check the fuse for the port. If they are unable to pull codes, the readers may not be CAN-enabled or unable to recognize the protocol in your 2005.
You won't be able to take a PCM from another Sport Trac and put it in yours because the PCM is coded to the vehicle. The anti-theft system will recognize the different PCM and fail to let the truck start until it's programmed to your truck which requires a trip to a dealer or a really well-equipped shop.

when plugging in a reader in that plug under the dash the reader its self wont turn on to read any codes for the engine light. that is why im thinking that the aldl in the computer may be fried. i had just pulled the computer out to get the numbers off the module in order to research it and put it back in perfectly and the truck wont start back up. it turns over but wont start. so im at a loss.
not sure what to do here. any ideas.
i checked the fuses earlier and they are all working fine they way they should. i pulled the stereo out and have to replace the fuse for the audio for a blew it but aside from that its seems fine.

I fixed the OBD11 connector it was the fuse I blew it twice then searched some more.....however now that I disconnected the cigarette lighter there are no more shorts & the fuse no longer is blown & I have power to the connector for the reader. (using a power checker)
So now its just a matter of getting a reader on my truck to get the chug figured out!
thank you for the info

Code reader came up with P0193
Code p0193 is Fuel Rail Pressure or Sensor
I am told that there are 6 sensors? that could be changed....is there a way of knowing which one it is I have to change. I just got quoted at $119 a piece which is far more then I was hoping to spend on each one not knowing which needs to be changed!!
