Just wanted to know if anyone knows the closest wire to tap into (preferably under the dash) that gets power when the truck is put in reverse. I don't see a black/pink wire in the bundle under the kick plate on the drivers side. Is there any other color? I have checked almost all the wires in this bundle and can't find one that gets power when the truck is in reverse. Any help is appreciated.
IF you have the auto dimming rear view mirror, there is a wire at the mirror already for this.
If you have backup sensors, there is a wire going to the dash switch and rear module.
tow relays under the hood are also handy..
If you have no luck with those, I just tapped a interior light. I only use my BU camera for trailer hookups. So, I just rotate the dimmer switch when I need the camera ( while in reverse).
I tried my backup sensor plug but I believe it is somehow disconnected because I couldn't find a 12v+ when in reverse. Tracktor, any idea on color of the wire?? Wallz, thanks for the pic, looks like this is what I will probably do.
I installed one a couple weekends ago and found a wire that made installation insanely easy. I found a large loom of wires right behind the glove box. It is a very large group of wires, however, I was lucky and the black/pink wire was near the front. tapped there and ran to my monitor which is installed above the hump on the lower dash. Not sure it gets any easier than that.
Just out of curiostiy, why does noone use the backup light in the taillight for the 12v power?
too much draw?
i just read another thread where there is supposedly a feed in the trailer plug? anyone know which color that wire is for reverse only power? or do I need to bust out the voltmeter and put girlfriend.com to work?
