By the weekend, I need to hear this engine run.
I took off the fuel line between the lift pump and filter and gravity supplied fuel to it.
The truck is a total basket case with wires everywhere.
I jumped the fuel cut solinoid and it clicks loud but I can't get fuel to the injectors.
I guess I should pull the plate off the side of the pump to see if it's even turning. Then what?
How long should I mess with trying to prime it before I pull the governor cover off and start playing with the fuel cut solinoid?
if the ip was empty (a recent ip swap) then you'll need batteries, starter and cables in tip top shape first.then fill the fuel filter up with fuel.make sure there is power to the fss and fuel at the schrader valve.crank for a full 15 seconds then wait for a full 2 minutes.after the 2 minutes, crank for another full 15 seconds, then wait 2 minutes.continue with this until the truck starts.if everything is correct,it should only take 3-4 cranking sessions.plugging in the block heater couldn't hurt.keep the batteries fully charged so cranking is super fast.
I pretty much did all that.
I removed the starter before I did anything. I noticed that the solinoid was loose so I fixed that first.
I took the batteries out of my other truck and did exactly as per post#2... Except for plugging in a block heater.
I cracked all of the injector lines and am getting no fuel at all. I held the throttle wide open while cranking, the last few times.
I assume the IP is original from 1988.
Edit: The truck has been sitting for 1-2 years. It's a total basket case.
