I stand corrected, I meant the exhaust valve. A burned or cracked intake valve will cause poping threw the intake.....my mind goes faster than I can type. That's what makes me think it could be a cam/ lifter problem. That's how we came to do my first 6.0 rebuild at my friends shop. I have a bunch of pics but I still haven't figured out how to post them nor the time ...I'll get it thou, one of these days
Pictures do help sometimes. I think most people just upload them to a host site and put the link in the thread. I usually post to my album here at FTE so you won't see the "this picture has been moved or deleted" message unless I delete them on purpose. As a Supporter you would be able to upload quite a few. You would probably have to resize them though, the camera format and picture size is often too big for the FTE host limits.
I did some research (on some other forums ) and found a detailed explanation of the popping in the intake because of a bad Exhaust cam lobe/lifter/push tube/rocker and it's as you were saying. Exhaust valve opens too little too late and there's still compression or even combustion happening when the intake valve opens at it's proper time. Pressure "pops" back into the intake manifold. Pretty straight forward I guess, just never ran into that before (and knew it). I was also trying to make it a "fire", I guess it can happen with just air pressure making the popping noise, it doesn't necessarily have to be ignited to make the sound.
Carnisedo: hope I didn't mess you up, definitely check the valve train, and sorry for the hijack.
