I had very similar problems with my E4OD and it was the TPS. I had bought one at Advance Auto Parts that was bad. Then went to NAPA and told them I wanted the most expensive one they had. It was bad. I took it back even so the manager said I have to have some other problem. The next cheaper one they sold was an OEM part. I ended up (with suggestions from this forum) going to the dealer and buying a FORD TPS and it fixed the problem. That was a couple of years ago. Matter of fact, the first bad TPS burnt my computer up. I had to send it off and exchange for a new one.

Anyway, everyone is right, that tranny runs from several sensors all over the truck. If any one of those is out of whack, it wont shift worth a crap.

If you are still getting TPS codes, replace it with a FORD part and go from there.

Good Luck

The TPS information is used buy the computer to help with the transmission scheduling but if the TPS is bad the computer will not use it set a code and will go to the MAP or MASS sensor only for the shift scheduling and oil pressure in the transmission.

If the MAP or MASS sensor and the TPS is bad then you will go into limp mode, max oil pressure and hard shifting and only using 2nd or 3rd gear.

The map i replaced a month ago. Im going to replace the tps again becasue its cheaper then a PCM . If that doesnt work im going to return the tps buy a reman ford pcm from ford . Yes i had the dash apart looked at the PSOM. Nothing seemed broken burnt or damaged. The speedo works it gets like bouncy meaning it just goes everywhere once your above 20mph the odometer and trip work though .
