just looking for some advice here, 96 f250 trans temp code came up on the scanner and 4th gear was slipping, the trans shop said they cleared the code and it's not doing it no more, what would cause that code to trigger. All the driving today was 3 miles to work and back.. didnt even warm the truck up either way. so what should I look for in this issue? Thanks Jack
no i havent changed the fluid lately, the o/d light didnt flash at all and it was slipping under load it woulld shift when you would burp the throttle and it was a sloppy shift? do these simptoms sound right?
I'm having something similar to your situation. My tranny shop guys think it might be due to slipping torque converter clutches. With 129K on the odometer, if I pull the tranny to replace the TC, I'm rebuilding the tranny, too.
When this happens, she's not throwing any codes. I pull over to the side of the road and shut down or shut down at a red light, restart, and no more problem for awhile. Last time I had to do this was late-January.

I'd start with new fluid and filter. While you are under there give all the electrical connectors a good look-see. Unplug them and try to get an eyeball on the pins and sockets in the connectors. Add a small amount of di-electric grease.
