I would think it would bolt right up since the 351M/400 are in the same engine family

Remove the engine and note the steps you take , then install the new engine by reversing your steps , easy bolt in .

There is no such thing as a 400M...only a 351m. The 400 is simply a 400.

I'm running a 1406 on my 460. It's a very easy carburetor to tune. If you have any trouble, try watching these videos:

I have a new question.. I forgot to unlock my hubs and ran all summer with them locked in and now my 4 wheel drive doesn't work so my question is. Is it the hubs or do I need to take it to the shop??

Nope...just unlock them.

4WD not working is another matter you need to address.
