So I ordered Hawk brake pads and rotors to replace the ones on my truck. Did the back set after work monday, went well. Did the front end Tuesday after work, got done late and i was filthy so girlfriend drove the truck from shop to house, maybe 100 yds. When i hoped in it wednesday morning, i instantly knew something wasn't right so i drove another vehicle to work and wasnt able to get back to it until Thursday.
I thought it might be the slide pin on the caliper. I tried to take the caliper off and it would hardly move, i had to loosen caliper bracket before it would come off. Anyways, I find out that the offset on the front rotors i was sent was wrong. So i called Hawk Performance and we go though the yr and model and part #'s. It all checks out fine. The customer service guy tells me he is going on vacation in 5 mins, and he wont be back until Tuesday (5 days away). I tell him I cannot wait until tuesday to start trouble shooting this problem. So his advise was to go buy a cheap set of rotors until he gets back tuesday. I just about blew it. I asked if he could get me in touch with someone in the mean time to fix the problem, which he said he would and forward him the pics i sent. Well I still have not received any calls back or emails to help the problem. I am stuck borrowing a vehicle in the mean time.
I am not happy with how they are handling this to say the least.
Wow... I would be smoking! Call them back, that goober didn't say anything to anybody on his way out the door I'll bet, surely they have more than one phone person? Not sure how big of an operation they are (brick and mortar), and it's a holiday weekend....
Guess I'm totally happy with my stock brakes and calipers. I just keep the systems flushed every 2 to 3 years which you need to do with the a/m's also.
Anyway, how come you can't just put the old rotors back on until you get the others figured out?
I would but they are wropped and groved really bad and don't want to screw up a new set of pads for a few days of driving, and the old pads got carried away before I could retrieve them from trash..
