Hypermax Smoke Puff Limiter/Aneroid

I've seen quite a bit of back-and-forth about this little device, but nothing recent.
Hypermax - Product Display
Do any of you have one, does it work well, and does anyone happen to have a used one for cheaper than that?

It seems like it should work nicely - limit max fuel based on boost pressure so you can turn the fuel /way/ up without smoking at low RPMs.

Should work fine... Just holds back the MV until boost builds enough to let it travel to max....

I have been trying to justify building my own, but for the price, might as well buy Hmax's... I might eve put one on one of my pumps in the future...

Thumbs up A+

i wouldn't run a built up ip (Mel's moose line or R&D's) without one of these.

I bookmarked that page, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy one and put it on the RD2 pump that I have coming. All depends on how quick the BW317222 spools up to clear the smoke. If I get a turd cloud when I stomp on it, I'm putting one of these on... no two ways about it.

Note that even ignoring how fast a turbo spins up, if you're under heavy load at a lower RPM, you'll get smoke. At least that's what I find with mine - at 1600rpm, fully loaded, I get constant smoke. At higher, 2k+, no smoke. I'm thinking that if I turned the fuel up more, my smoke at full load, lower RPMs would be worse.

Anyway,
Does /anyone/ actually have one of these, or is it just a matter of everyone liking the idea, but haven't bought one yet?

Once I have some money, I'm thinking of getting one, installing it, and then seeing if I can't build a similar module that works the same way for my other trucks, perhaps make a couple to sell if they're easy enough to make.
It looks pretty simple from the outside, for a machinist like myself.

Turning up the fuel will make it deliver more fuel.. more fuel and not enough air means smoke. So yes if it smokes now at 1600 it will smoke worse if you turn the fuel up because the turbo cannot supply enough air as it is.

I dont know of anyone having one, but i am planning to get one especially if i get a big bore.

I think thats what racin had in mind, but deemed it not worth it for the price. I think one wouldnt be hard to make for 92+ pumps but i could be wrong.

Exactly. But, at higher RPM, because boost is higher, the engine can cleanly burn more fuel per squirt. The problem is that if you turn the limiter screw up, you'll get horrible smoke at lower RPMs, where you don't get the boost(as he amount per injection is nearly flat throughout the RPM range).
Adding one of these allows it to act as a variable-limiter, meaning that you don't inject nearly as much fuel when floored at 1600 as you would at 3200, per squirt.

Or you can not waste your money and use your foot to control it.

Basically all it is, is a part that keeps your mind off the smoke issue, and if you tune it, you will see no drawback to its installation...

It isn't magic though.
