Wipers only work on low, won't shut off
Hi everyone,
Recently, my windshield wipers have stopped working as they should.
No matter what speed I set them on, they turn on the what is normally the "low" speed.
If I press the button for the windshield washers, the wipers keep running until I either pull the fuse or stop and remove the key.
The wipers also do not reset to the down position when I turn them off.
I'm guessing this is an issue with the switch since they do move okay. Any thoughts?
Thanks as always for the help.

Try this:

If your park switch ain't working, the intermittent wipers will run continuously since the wiper control will never know when to stop the motor.

Replace The Intermittent Unit
I ran into this years ago on my '91: simply replace the intermittent unit.
Your dash switch is fine.
Under the dash, follow the dash switch's wiring down. It connects to a black plastic mystery thingy-box, with two male/female connectors. Notice that those two connectors are oriented such that the switch can be connnected such that the mysterious black box can be eliminated from the circuit...and the wipers will work?
Was this Ford's quick way of making intermittent-wiper an option? Remember that these trucks were built when the "X-Files" were on TV...trust no one...

EDIT: nevermind I see the OP got his problem fixed and replied in another thread. I'm leaving the info above in case it helps someone when they search.

Thank you both.
Taking apart the piece on the side of the wiper motor and cleaning it (as the other thread described) worked perfectly.
As a reference for others doing this, I really had to clean the contacts and surrounding area (I used shop rags and carb cleaner) because they were loaded with grease / dirt.
I also had to bend the contacts a lot (almost 90 degrees) before I saw any results.
