I am replacing the carpet in my '79 Supercab. I have searched and found Stock Interiors and Auto Custom Carpets(ACC)...other than a price difference of a $100, what is the difference in quality? I can get carpet and kick panels-SHIPPED @ Stock Interiors for less than carpet alone @ ACC...what gives?
HELP IS NEEDED!
I am having to do this because the interior had remnants of mouse poop....then I also needed to replace the heater core.
So I removed the instrument cluster and found 2 dead mice and a whole bunch more poop.,so EVERYTHING came out of the inside and the whole inside of the truck got bleached and hosed out. tomorrow I am gonna scrub it all down with hot soapy water and start sound proofing and insulating..... I will also run new speaker wire to the rear speakers and the speakers in the doors
BUT RIGHT NOW I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CARPET...
THANK YOU!
I bought carpet from either mac's or lmc (cant remember) for my '78 reg cab last year and new carpet last month for my '78 crew from bronco graveyard last month and they both are quality sets but the set from bgy seems to be a little better although it wont be installed till (hopefully) this weekend when I get home. the reg cab had a good fit and a buddy recently installed a bgy crew kit in his bosses truck and he said it was nice as well. bgy has sc carpet and kick panels for about $225.
from what I have seen of the 2 kits I bought, I think that bgy is probably better because it has more backing/insulation on it. like I said, I havent had the chance to install it yet and check the fit but my friend recomended it to me and he is just as picky as i am.
were they the same price? I have purchased parts from jbg such as the dash bezel i just bought for my crew and it was in a dennis carpenter box. jbg was cheaper than dc for the dc part....
Will relate this to you. I stopped at JBG today to pickup some hinge repair kits. Asked about a dentside exterior moulding kit. Wanted to pick one up to save on shipping from DC since I figured that is what they sold. Salesmen told me they drop ship them {from DC}. No savings on shipping. I bet that is what they do with the carpet too. Sounds like ACC is making a little extra profit.
Summit also has ACC carpet...$219 and free shipping....but I still need kick panels...Also, when I type in Auto Custom Carpets, Stock Interiors come up...wonder if ACC is their supplier also!???
just go with jbg, the price is right and the quality is right as well. they always have good parts and prices. tried to order a new chrome step bumper from a local shop yesterday morning and wound up ordering the exact same bumper from jbg yesterday evening. local shop =$450 and my buddy was going to have to pick it up for me and drop it off at the house because they arent open when i get back home saturday/ jbg = $330 and it will be delivered thursday.
I bought my carpet from Stock Interiors and it was in an ACC box. I bought the more plush pile plus mass loaded backing. I don't know if the other options are also from ACC. Either way, the carpet looks really nice and fit well.
