Trying to put my 2004 powerstroke back together after installing a new oil cooler. Can anyone tell me where this goes? Does it go at the bottom of the filter housing?

Unless it's from an aftermarket filter I've never seen it in an oil filter housing. I have three standpipes and 2 filter bases and none of them have that piece in it. Did it come out of your filter housing?? Are you running OEM (motorcraft, racor, Navistar) oil filters?

I have never seen anything like that in a 6.0.

Might be part of the secondary fuel filter on top of the engine.

Yep, that's what I think it is as well. Must have came off when I removed the filter. Took me forever to figure it out. The new filter has one recessed up into the bottom.

Thanks!
