Code help needed

Need some decoding help, on My '78 F150 Super Cab:

rear axle: 16
front axle :A

Paint code: UP

Also,did the Super Cab VIN's start with X?,

I've got the book for 79 but I'm thinking this should be the same.

Rear axle, 9" ford with 3.50 gears, 3750#

Front axle should be a D44

Paint,

U, pastel sand

P, coral

Yes all supercabs started with X, yours should be X26

X14 is correct. For some reason I was thinking 250 VIN.

Are those the correct colors?

X14 is correct for an F150 4WD supercab. X26 would be an F250 version
Axle 16A=(16) Ford 9" non-locking, 3.50 ratio, 3,750 lb capacity (A) adjustable steering column w/ power steering.
Ford rarely put any actual front axle info on the warranty plate with exception of the "infamous" P code.

There used to be a metal tag held on by one of the diff cover bolts. Whether or not its still there is the question.
And yes, Ford called their tilt column adjustable. The release for it is the turn signal stalk, push forward on it to release the tilt.
