IPR Issue

Hello this is my first post and hoping to get a little help.

I have a 99 F250 7.3L

I have an issue with my IPR. The tin nut on the end is on there crooked. When I try to loosen or tighten it just spins. I am having the usual IPR symptoms, and I don't know if I need a new one of if it is because the nut is loose. Either way, I need to get the nut off.
My question is, will a normal 3/4'' bolt from the hardware store fit on the end of the IPR??? Maybe someone who has an extra sitting around can try and tell me. I was thinking of trying to hacksaw the tin nut off and replace with a 3/4'' nut from the hardware. If I can get that tight and the problem persists, then I will know I need a new IPR.

My second question is, could I use a metal cutting blade on a sawzall to cut this off (may be a really stupid question)
If not, what are some ways I can get it off without taking everything apart??

Thanks for any responses, and go easy since it's my first post

As long as there is no forward and aft movement of the spacer and solenoid, the looseness of the nut should not be affecting the IPR. I have had people lose the nut & spacer and simply ziptied the solenoid in place without a problem.

Thanks for the tip!!!!!

Well I put 2 zipties on the solenoid and got it VERY tight. I couldn't move it. I took it for a test drive and it didn't help
I still have the surging and up and down RPM's when it is in idle.

I am going to order and install a new IPR. My question now is, how do I get that junk tin nut off the end???
I looked at the repair kits and it doesn't even look like a real nut with threads on it. Im guessing mine somehow got jacked when I was trying to undo it with the socket when this problem first came up.
Back to my original post, can I just cut it off with a hacksaw or possible sawzal;l????

Are you sure that the ICP sensor on the head is not the problem? I would unplug the sensor to let it default and see it the engine smooths out. Also, Check for oil in the connection. If present, the sensor needs to be replaced.
A good pair of diagonal cutting pliers (dykes) should be able to clip one side of the nut and allow you to twist it off.

I will check the ICP too. Should I unplug it and drive around for a bit and see if it smooths out? After all of the research I was thinking of changing the IPR and ICP.

You should notice a difference right away. You can drive it like that until you get a new one, if need be.
