DMV inspection?

I bought my 1973 f-100 4x4 shortbed fleet side about 4 years ago and I'm still doing my restoration but I. At the point where it should be drivable soon...my problem is the truck was parked for 20 years when I bought it and I've been told when I go to register it and file for lost title and show that I towed it to rebuild it the DMV has to inspect it...what are they looking for in the inspection? What kinds of things will fail me? Keep in mind I live in California so the DMV sucks the worst here along with our state government

For a 73 it should just be a vin verification. They may do a light and brake but that should be it. Your smog exempt so you shouldn't get hassled with any if that B.S.

Because it's not in the books, they'll likely do a brake lighting and lamp test and verify the VIN.
