Vent window rubber
On my '59 F-100 I had to replace both vent window glasses.. I had them "cut" by a local glass guy but the edges were a little rough so I finished them off with my 4X6" table top belt sander. (more one that later) However the reason for this post is to save you $ on the rubber... The supplier in NY and OKC wanted $95 for the pair. I cut a piece out of a truck inner tube (get it at your local tire store or truck stop) 2" wide by 24" (or was it 18"). Spray the rubber, the glass and the frame with some type of lubricant (I used spray and wash, but windex or WD-40 would work). put the rubber in the frame and slide the glass in to get it started then use a rubber mallet to "gently" tap the glass into the frame. Let it set for a day and come back with a box cutter (razor blade) or other sharp device of your choice and trim the rubber next to (against) the frame. There: I just saved you $90. I assume the check is in the mail....
