I am trying to find channel rubber to use while installing the side windows and vent windows. On LMC they have the ones for the side windows for $13 each! OUCH! But they do not have the ones for the vent window. (You can see what I’m talking about at LMC Truck Parts - Page 13 and look at item #20). I really don’t want to spend $26 for the side windows and still not have what I need for the vent windows. I’ve looked on Dennis Carpenters site also, but no luck. I went to a place here in Kansas City that specializes in rubber and they had something similar to what I need, but the walls were too thick and the gap for the window was too small, making it impossible to fit the window into the frame. They only charged $.60 a foot which is way more reasonable than LMC’s price. Unfortunately it didn’t work. Has anyone replaced these on the ’50 F1? Where did you purchase them?
If not, I have found another site that I might be able to get what I need from, but I do not know the measurements of the channel rubber. You need the measurements of A-F and will be able to purchase the rubber (see pic below). Does someone have the measurements for this?
If I'm not mistaken, what you want is parts numbered 4 and 5 for the wing windows. Or at the very least part number 4, $30 for the pair. Not cheap but available.
I have both of those pieces. Those go on the door to seal the vent window as you close it. What I need is not shown. If you look at the pic for LMC you'll see the glass is #3. Just to the left of it is the frame that turns the vent glass. (there is no part number for it). There is rubber channel that goes between the glass and the frame.
It is just like #20. The frame for the side window is 19. You have to put 20 in there so that the glass isn't sitting on metal.
I undestand now. It looked like those were the rubber pieces that hold the glass into the metal frame. I would imagine a glass shop that does auto window repairs would be able to make something work for you. Do you have any locally that have been in business for 30 or so years?
I think what you're looking for is glass setting tape, or butyl tape. It is available locally at your local auto glass shop. It holds the vent glass into the frame, and the lift channel onto the bottom of the side glass.
