2008+ mirror conversion - who's done it?

So, at this point I am wanting to do the 2008+ mirror conversion. I have the power and heated mirrors currently. I know the 2008+ could have the power extending and power folding mirrors. From what I've found you can get a set of new aftermarket power and heated mirrors for around 365 with shipping form 1A Automotive and they come with either black textured caps or chrome ones. From what I've seen most people want 900+ for a set of used power folding/extending which is a bit too rich for my blood. Besides, do I REALLY need power folding/extending? I can't remember the last time I extended the mirrors and the only time I fold the mirrors is when I fold the driver side at the ATM.

So, who out there has done it? Are there any connectors to make the wiring plug and play or is it a hand done job? Where did you get your mirrors from?

According to folks who have done this in the past, the cheap mirrors are not weighted, so they vibrate to the point of uselessness.

I bought the 08-12 upgrades from 1A for my 05 ex. Plug and play. took 20 minutes to install. Got the heated and power since that is what I had as OEM. Came with black plastic cap. No shaking on mine, rock solid. Ordered and delivered within 4 days. I say do it. The improved view is amazing.

I used oem power extend/fold i found on dealers clearance listings and it was quite a project without wiring diagrams. I store my truck inside a heated/ a/c shop with having to fold the mirrors each time i pull in. Check my album for detailed info, if you dare to. Added a selector switch and momentary switch, so you have to hold it until they are done moving. The view is awesome and both sections are heated!.

That looks like a lot of fun Curt. Do you have a detailed writeup of the project with wiring instructions??? Wow......

Nice job, BTW.

I just installed these a few months back...awesome price...plug-n-play as well. I had the old paddle mirrors and no heat or turn indicators. I plugged these in and low and behold...I now have heated tow mirrors with turn signal indicators and parking light indicators....just plugged right in...took all of 20 minutes each side. Well worth the investment. Actually bought mine through Tobacco Road (ChromeFactoryOutlet) on ebay.

Do you have a link to what you ordered? I'd like to do this on our 05 ex

Just curious, how do you turn on the mirror heaters if it didn't come with the factory switch? Mine don't have heated with turn signals but was thinking about swapping them.

There isn't a heated mirror switch, they are always on.

I pull the fuse during the Summer as it creates water spots like crazy in the heat.

Yep...the wiring harness connector had that covered as well. Apparantly my truck (like most I'm sure) has the OEM wiring for most of the items such as power to heat, lighting. It is just that mine came off the line with paddle style mirrors.

Mine too. I will probably be the exception to the OEM wiring harness though, my truck didn't come with wiring for the fog lights like every other truck in the world did

I just checked out the 1A site. Does a guy have to get the upgrade style for the early trucks or are the 08 up mirrors plug and play? I have a KR so I would like power, heated, clearance and signal lights, in chrome if possible. Just not sure on the fitment??
