Question Block casting numbers

Hi fellas, its been a lil while since ibeen on FTE, and i am making some progress on my 74, i have a 390 that the truck came with and was wondering bouts the year of this motor, the casting is C7 ME A, any help wud b appreciated, I wud show her off but cant get pictures to load

Casting numbers are foundry marks, cannot be cross referenced to Ford part numbers.

Casting numbers on FE engines are WORTHLESS for identifying what the engine sizes are or what they were installed in...since all FE engines were cast as 352's.

All I can tell you is: C7ME is related to 1967. There will be a date code cast on the block, but this, when decoded, refers to the day the block was cast, not the day the completed engine was installed.

Look for the casting date code on the oil filter mounting pad...

These blocks generally found their way into a vehicle 3-6 months after casting.

Thanks Montana, i was wondering what those were for, but unfortunately only a third of the date code is there, looks as if ford went to mill the oil filter hanger pad and two thirds of the date code gots ground away
