If tightening those torx bolts isn't the solution, I'll try the cable and go from there.
If the bolts don't fix it I think it's time to check the wiring to the TRS. I know you think you did, but you didn't do anything useful. A visual check will only find the most obvious problem. You need to check each circuit for continuity, short to power, and short to ground. Anything less is just wasting time.
Mark, could you describe that process? Should I set my multimeter to Ohms? Where should I actually test? I wasn't able to check on the connector last night, as the probes are too large to fit into the connector.
It was later in the evening when I had the chance to check and getting dark, so I figured I'd rule out any obvious problems in the wiring before I spent a bunch of time troubleshooting.
Yes, set your meter to ohms. With a wiring diagram find where the wires go. Read the continuity from one end to the other. Check for continuity to both ground and power.
NEVER put probes into the end of the connector! That will open the pins and create new problems that didn't exist before. ALWAYS probe from the end where the wires enter the connector.
I looked, and those bolts were both very loose. One was almost falling out, so I tightened them and the truck fired right up. Tried it several times with no problem. So that must be the fix! Thanks for all the help!!
