Hey everyone. I have a 93 ford lightning that I bought. It had been sitting for 10 years not running. I got it running and noticed on my first test drive it shifts crazy hard in every gear. I could use some help on this one. Little background on this...... The o/d light is not flashing and I got a high voltage code and a low voltage code and a engine could not establish proper idle. Any ideas what's causing the hard shifting??????
I would guess things are a little stiff and sticky inside the trans from sitting so long.
It may very well straighten itself out if you drive it gently for awhile. Pretty common for vehicles that have sat for extended times to 'heal' themselves with some gentle driving.
I'm not a big fan of additives, but the one transmission guy I know whose transmission rebuilds work right the first time, every time, says Lubeguard is a good product. It might not be a bad idea to try some in this case, and at the very worst it won't hurt anything.
If you are getting trouble codes, then the E4OD is working in limp mode... Take care of the problems with the codes and there is a VERY good chance the trans will work like it should..
