I'm trying to pull the steering wheel on my 61 F100. I took off the horn and the steering column nut. Put a wheel puller on by attaching two bolts into the holes provided. and started cranking. It didn't move. I left the wheel puller on for a week, adding PB every day, tightening the puller with a breaker bar and tapping the end of the puller rod with a hammer in hopes of getting the PB down into the column. Nothing, Zip, Nada. I removed the wheel puller before I damaged something.
What am I missing? I have the Ford manual and it doesn't indicate there's anything left to remove before I pull the wheel.
On several occasions I needed to pull off steering wheel, keep in mind, I'm not worried about damaging anything so I'm a bit more aggressive.
I loosen the steering wheel nut until it's flush with the shaft, (don't want to damage the threads on the shaft) then with a heavy hammer, not a sledge but a good heavy hammer I strike the shaft usually two sometimes three hits and it's off.

Your method is correct, you just need a bigger hammer and a good heavy striking blow.
