ok i have a chance to pick up a 99 4wd psd to part out. what will interchange between the two motors. i know that the blocks are different, but some things should work on both just need to know what to keep for myself? thanks guy's
Nab that d-60 up front that worth 700-1200 alone. If it were me I'd swap out all the running gear and interior like seats etc. then sale what I could and scrap the truck
The unit-bearing D-60s arent all that great and dont go for as much, at least around here. If its an F-250 odds are its a D50 front (solid axle) trans and t-case will swap i think, seats wont be bolt in.
As far as the engine itself... nothing really, supposedly the starters interchange but i dont know for sure.
ok will the oil cooler interchange, what about the serpentine drive system, turbo to refit on another motor? what i'm keeping for myself. rear axle, ft seats, inter cooler, fuel tank. power steering pump, steering wheel& clock spring, vac pump,

I don't think any of that stuff will work on an IDI... maybe the PS pump. The turbo can be made to work but it requires a lot of custom work, and there are a lot better options to put on the idi.

Ill try to break down what on that list will and wont work along with what can be made to work with modifications. Although I will admit I have no idea on the fuel tank, Im guessing you can fab up some mounting brackets to get it to work but have no idea for sure.
so what your saying is , no one on this site has modded their truck with items from a newer model truck. so everybodies trucks are bone stock. strange seats rear axle intercooler vac pump sterring wheel&clock spring are all mods i got from this site! from the answers i'm getting you would think this is oilburners not fte.

we do mod our trucks, but not with parts that will not fit without doing major modifications to make them fit.

The biggest problem your facing is that in 98/99 Ford did a major remodel of the 250/350 trucks. The wheels on that truck wont even bolt up to yours so if you were to change the rear axle at the very least youd need different rear wheels and that's after you changed all the brackets/springs on the rear to even get it mounted. Frankly the seats should be fairly easy, place on in mark the mounting holes, remove seat and drill, attach using bolt/nut with large fender washer and your done. Intercooler you have to drill your rad support and custom make some brackets to mount it (many many write-ups on it). But for the most part if its bolted to the engine forget about it.
Oh and for the record my trucks definatly not stock (ATS 093 turbo, RD2-90 pump, NMB2 injectors, Air/Water intercooler, 4" powerstroke exhaust)

Ummm, maybe because you are asking about something that isn't worth doing?
I've seen a 350 SBC in a Type 1 VW, you can do any stupid thing if you put your mind to it, doesn't mean it's worth it and others have done it.
