Head Lights

Question, I have a 1989 F250 and when I turn on the headlights they dont turn on. The brake, and parking light all turn on. Where should I start looking at for the problem?

Check the fuse to start. If that isn't the problem, you may have a bad headlight switch. Or it's possible they're both burnt out.

pull back the carpet and check the connections on the dimmer switch.
my money is on bad connections or the switch connections rotted off.

I replaced the headlight switch left side of the steering wheel. Where is the dimmer switch located?

On the floorboard, near the kick panel on the driver side. Looks like a peg sticking up out of the carpet with a button on top.

And if all else fails, check the grounds. Shouldn't be too far away from each plug to the bulb. 9 times out of 10, wiring problems come down to the ground being corroded/rusted.

Thanks for the support. It was the dimmer switch. Sorry it took so long to reply but just picked up a 2013 f150 5.0. Still am working on rebuilding the 89 f 250.

Well, good to know that dimmer switches have something to do with the headlights
