Lights

On my 82 f-250 the lights will turn on then after driving for alittle while like 5 minutes or so the lights will turn off then if I switch the dimmer switch a couple of times it will come back on then do the same thing again. I cleaned the plug and contact point on the switch and the dimmer and it still does it. Would the dimmer switch be bad or would it be the light switch itself?

could be either one, I'd guess dimmer first but if you have a test light it should be easy enough to figure out. IIRC, there are 3 wires going to the dimmer, you should have power going to one of them from the headlight switch then coming out of one of the other ones going to the low or high beam depending on wich position the dimmer is in. If you dont have a testlight (or a voltmeter) you can unplug the dimmer switch and jump between 2 of the terminals until you get the right combo and the lights should work. Another thing to try is wiggling the wiring up at the headlights themselves, they get corroded sometimes

Ditto on the headlight switch replacement recommendation. I’ve seen this problem a few times on Fords, it will get your attention when the lights go out! Adding a set of fog or driving lights that run off of a separate circuit sounds like a pretty good idea…
