Trans Issues

looking into the knowledge of yaw on the forum, you guys have been a big help and didnt even know it and i have fixed all the little issues that has came up with my new to me truck of 3 yrs just with the search button but cant seem to find this one or maybe im using the wrong verbage, so please dont flame me if i missed it, so here it goes the short version, 03 7.3 w/4R100 4WD crew cab long bed w/228K on the od, will not shift into 3rd and of course 4th when it gets up to temp, all indications normal, this happened to me on my way to work first time this ever has happened, left work tonight cold trans shifts normal till temp stabilizes normal come to a complete stop and again no shift to 3rd or 4th, sometimes the 1st to 2nd shift is nice and firm and then the next time its soft and barely know it shifted, fluid level is correct and not burnt smelling or black in color, since ive had the truck the trans has never been over temped always ran half way on the guage, fearing the worst and want a BTS Trans but not right now, and would like it be drivable when i do it, sorry for typeO's but its late and just got off work, thx in advance

It could be a stuck shift valve, a stuck shift solenoid, loose feed bolts that feed pressure to the clutches, or a bad direct clutch.

All but the clutch can be accessed by removing the pan and valve bodies. The clutch requires the trans to come out and get torn down.
