P0340 cam position?

P0340 cam position?

Hey guys, the p0340 code is the cam position right? Ready says bank 1.. Is there 2? Can anyone tell me where the bank one is?? nd do i need to get on tdc on cyl one first or not?

On a 4.2L v6 it is in the old distributor location that set in a hole on top front of motor.
On 4.6/5.4L v8 it' the sensor screwed into the front of head on 'driver side' with a connector attached.
It has to detect the movement of the cam gear hence it's location.

Ok great, do i have to get on tdc for eather of these engines?

Which motor are we talking about v6 or v8.
On v6 you need to follow a procedure because it's timed (driven) off the camshaft.
On a v8 you can't do anything but screw the sensor into the head so it can sense the passing of the cam gear surface change to generate it's signal..
