Cam postion sensor on the 5.0 v8 is located on the top front just right of center of the engine. It is actually on top of the syncronizer, it has an electrical connector on top of it. The syncronizer is the lower half of the distributor. Changing the cam sensor is easy, two screws one electrical connector. If you need to change the syncronizer there is a tool used to align it, the alignment is critical. Good luck.

Thank you kind sir. Im told that by identifying the prongs on this plug will tell me whether the motor is pre 1998 or post 1998. Apparently the casting number just says when the motor was cast.
