cab removal

No, you can remove it without bracing. I just pulled mine off yesterday. With the doors off, it's not too heavy.
Do you have a plan to pull it off? If you have 3 or 4 people it's quite easy. I don't so, I used the seat bolt holes and the front cab mount holes. I put chains on them and attached them to my engine hoist in the center (toward the front because the front is much heavier.) and lifted it right off.

Here is a thread talking about a similar method using chains inside the cab.

And here is a nice thread about a cab dolly:

I've heard of people taking off the cab with an engine hoist, but couldn't figure out how to get it high enough to clear the frame.
You would think someone that removed the transmission from a deuce and a half by reaching in with an engine hoist would have figured that out. I guess not.

You should have seen my first attempt. It worked, but I won't show it to anyone. It involved tie down straps and a 4X4. The chain way worked well.....once you balance the cab....yeah I was sweating the first attempt with the chain method as I'm struggling to save the cab from flailing all over the place. I managed to get it back to the frame and said, "Well I guess they were right that the front is much heaver...." Sometimes I'm a little dense.

I did similar to KGPs... 'sept I used 2 landscape timbers (way overkill)... bolted them together with spacers the same width as the lift arm... removed the hook from the chain hoist and use a piece of 3/4 allthread to bolt the timbers above the arm... rolled it into the cab with the doors open )(they are already fitted up nicely) and jacked it up... rolled it to the side of the frame and set it down on the cab dolly...
I have done mine with the same hoist and a nylon sling through the doors and lifted it... it tended to roll the rail gutter so I didn't do it this time. If you have 4 friends it works good too.... I don't have 4 friends..

I've taken mine off several times, with the doors off, if you don't use a hoist, three people can remove it with ease. I have someone kind of manage the front as they attend to be front heavy and lean a bit towards the front. Also I when to HD and purchased some small 3 wheel dollies and set the cab on them so I could roll around with ease.
