Here's ONE way to remove the cab from the frame...
This is what I busied myself with today.
Been undoing connections left and right... but that goes without saying for this procedure.
I've seen a lot of folks that said that they got a few friends over and carried the cab off.
On something as tall as a F500... I don't have any 8foot tall friends that can help.
I also seen a TOWER of a lift... but my lil suburb house ain't gonna do for that.
This involved my cherry picker, engine leveler, and some chains.
Came off unbelievably easily.
There wasn't very many attachment points on the cab overall that seemed strong enough. But I bolted the chain down to both holes on the fender mount for the front support.
For the rear.. there's not a lot. Fortunately... a previous owner had mounted seatbelts in my truck. Couple with a HUGE washer on the underside.. this seemed to make a great spot to mount the chain in the rear.
I adjusted and readjusted the chain lengths vs. tilter pivot several times after this.

And started lifting...
Pulled it up and away from the frame with one hand... I couldn't believe how stable it was.
Once it was down... I had to figure out how to put it down... Then realized my lil Harbor Freight trailer was just chillin there... so on it went.
The jackstands are there to keep the rockers from sitting directly on the trailer's fenders.
And that was it. Now I need to figure how to either sell the frame.. or tow it to the scrap yard. Then I'll be rolling the 55 F100 frame from the backyard.

4 for the cab itself.
then 4 for the front fenders and 4 for the inner fenders..(5 on the 55 and earlier)
each side.
and its best to remove the front clip too.. 2 the bolts under the radiator U,
and then it lifts off (taking the fender/inner fender/cab bolts of course)
and the steering and the brake cable and the floor around the brake & clutch pedals

I was thinking that too while I was trying to figure the best way to do it. The only problem is that I would have to lift the body by another means to get a bolt where the frame rail is supporting that mounting hole. (does that make sense?)

When I go to set the cab on the F100 frame... I may or may not just have some friends come over. I had a few offer, but you F100 guys have to see how tall a F500 is.. I just don't see a good way to lift the body THAT high unless you break out step stools for everyone... lol.
P.S., the engine tilter makes the job WAY easier...
