I'm looking at a 68 F100 in my area for $4800. It looks nice and has a 390 with I think a C6. Thing is its missing the grill inserts. LMC doesn't show any for the 68. Ebay only has one complete grill that I can find and its going for $675. Whats up with that? Can other years fit this truck?
Filled seams on the hood & bed. May be nothing but may be due to rust & trying to hide it. Also missing hood badges & F-O-R-D. That grille shell has a piece of trim (actually it is 3 pieces to make 1) that goes across the bottom of the hood. Many guys have run into serious rust in their hoods so I would look that over very well. Missing center cap on the RF wheel. I would dig into bolt circle. The 8.8 is a smaller circle than stock. If the front is matched how was it done? Was the rear matched to the front? If so how? Is it mismatched? I agree with what has already been said. Not what I would expect out of a $4800 truck BUT I have noticed the prices on bumps & dents (especially SWB) climbing.
I too would be checking stroke. Not that it would really matter to me other than honesty. There is no visible difference between a 360 & a 390. 360s magically become 390s when it is time for sale.
The lower valance is from the 67-69 years. Notice how the turn signal housings sit. The 70-72 lower valance has a larger area for the turn signal housings.
I'm sure that red paint is hiding cancer.
Body lines don't look right. If you get a chance to crawl under it look at the cab mounts and core support mounts.
Chances are the trim holes were filled with bondo. Check those areas for cracking. And the hood lip, as was pointed out. If any of the hole areas are cracking this bondo job was not done right. Don't want to hit a pot hole.
