I'd be weary of this truck like mentioned by others has a mix and match full of parts and alot of the body lines that were filled in need alot of prep work to get all that rust, dirt, seam sealer who knows what else and get it prepped so it doesn't crack the filler down the road ask him if it was all just body filler over all the badging holes and body lines or if they did it right and weld them shut also be sure to find some kind of proof it's a 390 whether it be from a rebuild slip or measuring the stroke everyone seems to have a 390 when it comes time to sell and look for underbody rust floors cab corners and mounts under hood bottom of radiator support and find out what that rear is from make sure it has matching lug pattern seems Alittle high on price interior needs done yet but if the body checks out good and paint prep was done right then its not to bad of a deal
1971 grille inserts have two vertical dividers, 1972's have one (pic shows '72 inserts).
The Custom nameplates on the right/left bedsides were introduced in 1970.
Stylesides: 1969 from serial number F70,001, 1970/72 body side marker lamps have bulbs. This truck's bed has the earlier reflectors.
1969/72: Came with reflectors below the tail lamps that are missing. Truck has stainless steel w/shield reveal mouldings, would have come with tail lamp bezels. No see um.
Stroke: 360 = 3.50" / 390 = 3.78."
8.8" introduced in 1983 F100/150 & Bronco, but 9" was available thru 1986, so 1983/86's could have either.
CAVEAT EMPTOR ~ Let the buyer beware! 1980/83 F100: Some have 5 lug 5.50" bolt circle wheels, some have 5 lug 4.50" bolt circle wheels.
True to what NumberDummy says however the grille in question is a 71-72 look at the mounting area, the mounting area has 6 mounting tabs not 4

I knew there was a reason you stayed with '71/'72 & did not include the '70. Not being familiar enough with the split grilles I just waited to see what would pop up. I agree with the body line comment you made. Something just doesn't look right about the truck.
