I am going to rebuild my old ranch truck. '87 Ford Supercab F250 6.9L 4x4 T19. I am having to replace the cab and found one that had an auto in it so the steering column and shifter will be taken care of.
I have found a '91 E40D from a 4x4 350 with torq converter and cross member if I need it(which I think I will)
From this forum I understand I will need a control module and it sounds like it may be better aftermarket instead of stock.
I believe the speedometer sensor is in the tail of the transmission????
Is the length of the T19 the same? or will I have drive shaft issues as well. I understand I can use my transfer case but not sure.
What all do I need to have to make this transition? The cab is from a gas rig so I will have to use my existing instrument panel and harness I guess??
Any tips or pointers for making this change would be appreciated. I am pretty decent mechanic but have never gone this far before.
Thanks in advance for all your help - this site is really cool.
The computer is easy if you take the time anf you'll save 500.00 + all the computer wiring is in my album, you'll need the glow wiring and dash gauge pack,91 is in the tail shaft.
The e40d is longer than t19, you will have to drill mounting holes in your frame for the crossmember. At least I did on my 87. You want the shifter linkage mount on the trans and the rod going to the trans shift lever. The drive lines from your 91 will work if they are both super cabs. When I ordered my aftermarket controler from usshift.com I made it so that controler run off the abs sensor in the rear end.
The album is part of his profile, click on his name then you should be able to find his album.
