not really.most shops sold off their timing meters (if they even ever had one) years ago.a few still have them, but you'll need to hunt around.tell the ones who just time by ear,no thanks.
otherwise you can head over to oilburners.net and pm a guy there named icanfixall.he'll rent you a timing meter with instructions for cheaper than a shop would time it for anyway.
There's a member on oilburners.net with the screen name 'icanfixall'. He rents the timing equipment (complete with tools needed to loosen and adjust the IP) for $70 plus your cost to ship it back to him. Not a bad way to go. Just did this with mine. Super easy to DIY and Gary's a great guy.
I've tried to run Diesel Kleen through the pump for two days, even sprayed carb and choke cleaner down the two nozzles that were not spraying fuel out of the injector. I considered the carb and choke drying out any rubber gaskets, but I figured the fuel may lubricate it again, and if It didn't lubricate then the pump was already trash.
As per your recommendation I tried to contact R&D IDI, but I never got an answer from the guy. I then called up Pensacola, talked with the guy, basically asking him about the pumps, numbers, what they do, who they send the pumps off to (if they do), etc. He told me that they clean the pumps, tear them down and replace the moving parts and that I was getting a new pump included with a one year unlimited mileage warranty. He said that the pump they sell is a Boss pump, and that "they don't deal with Stanadyne junk". The biggest winning factor here was that the gentleman said they had the pumps in overstock, so they weren't even going to do a core charge, which I'm more than happy with. I can't believe I'm saying this but it seems $395 can't be beat for a numbers matching pump. I will update in a few months how the pump is fairing me. I appreciate everyone's input for sure.
I can also add that I asked him if the pumps were interchangable: 5013s, 2812s, 4821s, etc, and he told me that ultimately they were not because they all carried different inner parts. <-- Just to add perspective on this topic.
I did read up that dynamic timing is best left to a shop (I'm not buying the tools to do it myself, I'm strapped for cash as it is). Can any ol' local diesel shop time a clacking IDI correctly?
If that is true, it must have went to Junk mail, I make it a point to contact everybody who sends me an email...I may not be the same day, but it will happen.

I didn't email, I pulled the phone number off from online, despite your website sayimg that you prefer email because it's easier on you. By the way, I happened to stumble upon a thread yesterday located in thedieselstop forum but a gentleman who found your R&D website. I saw that you replied to it, basically saying it was yours and I immediately thought to myself "Hey! I know that guy!" How's business coming?

I have to question this, as Stanadyne is the OEM part, so unless they are either supplying a completely new housing and internals, they are only referring to aftermarket internals. The pump is still Stanadyne.

That was probably it. I get several phone calls a day, even though I don't even list a number (For that reason). If I have a free moment, and somebody gives me a call, I normally answer it, but for the most part, I simply don't have the time. At least with email, I can answer it whenever I get a few minutes at the computer.
Anyway...
Business is alright, has me right at capacity pretty much right now. I have projects (like the IC and CAI kits) that I haven't had time to put into production.
Timing wise, get one while it lasts: Diesel Timing Adapter for Ford and GM | eBay
Once these are gone, they're gonna be a lot harder to find.
They work great, just use your own timing light.
And yes, they work for the 7.3's as well, and the booklet has all instructions needed.
