Hey, I've got a 89 f150 4x4 with a 302. here lately it has knock coming towards the back of the oil pan. the engine has about 108,000 miles on it. i was hoping it would last longer but i guess it won't. if i do have to put a new motor in it i would like a 351 without all the smog and efi, just a plain simple motor thats easy to work on. how hard would it be to get rid of the smog and efi. and how much would the motor conversion cost and how easy would it be? Thanks

Do a search,this has been talked about a bunch.What tranny do you have?If it's an aode you might have problems because of the electronics.More likely you have an aod,which means you'll have to rig up a linkage for the tv cable.If it's a c6 then it's not an issue.

oh man those are prob your bearings knocking, that means the engine is fixing to go out on you, a rebuilt 351 from the factory is approx 4,000 dollars installed and everything but thats an EFI so i dunno

My 1987 302 with 336,000 miles has been doing it for three years.
I use 20w-50 and that cut back on some of the noise.
The engine is getting old.. That is all... Will it wear out... Maybe one day.. Just take good care of her and she will always take care of you..
